Make every day national forklift safety day! Last week, on Tuesday the 10th of June, we celebrated national forklift safety day. However we think this should be spoken about everyday!
The famous saying ‘a painted line isn’t enough’ is the perfect way to sum up how important warehouse safety is. NFSD 2025 emphasises the the importance of investing in robust segregation measures in work environments. It focuses in on the impact of victims, emotionally and physically, to really hit home about how important this concept is.
How can you upgrade your Warehouse safety? 👷
1.Upgrade your equipment and technology 📸
Use rear-view cameras, proximity sensors and detection systems to prevent collisions with equipment, buildings or people.
2. Improve certification and training 📃
Offer refresher training, and new and improved practise to improve the way things are done. You can even train staff using VR, providing realistic scenarios.
3. Upgrade your warehouse 🆙
Redesign your warehouse layout, install barriers, mirrors on blind corners, one-way traffic flows and ensure there’s plenty of space for vehicles that move around.
4. Enforce safety policies and regulations 🦺
Enforce a zero tolerance policy for unsafe driving or non-compliance. Use high visibility vests, safety shoes and hard hats. It is also useful to enforce restricted areas where only forklifts can enter.
5. Monitor and improve! 👀
Log all accidents and near misses, to identify trends and reoccurring issues. This way, you can change common occurrences and improve.
