Since the introduction of wheelie bins to the Birmingham area recycling rates have increased in one month alone!
At Wheelie Bins Direct2U we have been keen to follow the introduction of wheelie bins to the Birmingham area, and have noticed that the original opposition to the new type of waste collection has been subsiding. Now, it has been claimed that over the last month alone, Birmingham has seen a turnaround in its recycling figures. The 9,000 wheelie bins that were rolled out to homes in Bournbrook, Brandwood and more recently to homes in Harbourn, have already been the reason for a drop in the rubbish that accumulates on the street. The wheelie bin is now claimed to be the reason for the area’s recycling progress.
The recycling wheelie bin leads the way to a greener environment!
The latest figures for waste management showed that Birmingham City Council was missing its household recycling and waste targets during 2012/13. They took an average of 638kg black bag waste, when they had a target of 600kg, and only 32% of total waste was recycled when they had set a target of 35%. Something had to be done and their plan was wheelie bins…
The results have been very encouraging so far. The increase of recycling cardboard, paper, plastic, tins and glass has created a significant decrease in residual waste, and so it looks like the wheelie bins are going to be great success. The recycling wheelie bins from Birmingham council have a waste capacity of 185 litres. Each household previously had one 55 litre recycling box, by introducing larger new wheelie bins more and more household waste can now be recycled.
Wheelie bins are becoming a success around the UK, if you have your own wheelie bin success story share it here…
