Top 5 Gifts for Cyclists

It’s less than a month till Christmas… and if you haven’t started your Christmas shopping already now really is the time. If you’re struggling to find the perfect present, then hopefully we can help (as long as they like cycling!). We’ve come up with our list of top five presents for cyclists this year. It’s what we’re all asking for in the office. We have thought of budgets big and small, so whether it’s a stocking filler, present or office secret Santa we hope you get some ideas and inspiration.

What to get Cyclists this Christmas?

1. A GoPro

GoPro - Give the Gift of Memories

Why not give the gift of memories this year? With a GoPro you can capture all the highlights of a cycling adventure. The ups and downs of the roads, speed and who knows even a funny mishap or two! This really is a perfect gift. It will let your receiver capture all their cycling adventures from a different angle. And yes, whilst first and foremost they would be using it for this, it also can be used for safety on the roads. Take a look at our own cycling video that our team made, for their Coast 2 Coast ride, using a GoPro here. What better gift is there, than giving someone something to capture their memories and share them with friends and family. Go on find your GoPro match.

2. London Cyclist Handbook: A guide to life in the cycle lane

London Cyclist Handbook

The ‘London Cyclist Handbook‘ is one for the city goers. Written by the author of London’s most popular cycling Blog: London Cyclist – it has everything you need to know about cycling in London. But if you’re not based in London this book will still be an exciting read. It starts with all you need to know for choosing the best bike for you, about gear and accessories, maintenance and ideal storage solutions for the Urban Cyclist. This book has great reviews, so will be perfect for guaranteeing that little bit of me time over the Christmas period. A great stocking filler!

3. Pedal Parker

Pedal Parker Bike Rack

Do you know someone who has bikes everywhere, or is just lacking room to store their bike? Well, if the answer is yes then this if the gift to get them! The Pedal Parker is an innovative bike rack which you can fit to any wall in the garage or home. It’s design allows any bike to be hung on the wall using the bikes pedals. It’s a material friendly method, as bike pedals are designed to withstand high weight loads and should be able to hold the framework with ease. The kit comes with a tyre support as well to ensure the bike is safely mounted. And most of all this bike rack won’t scratch the bike’s paint work!

It comes in a Flame Red colour – which is perfect for Christmas. Why don’t you treat someone (or yourself!) to a Pedal Parker this Christmas they are from only £15.00 including Delivery!

4. Cycle Helmet

Cycle Helmet

A helmet is something that all cyclists will always need. There’s a helmet for every budget. But remember, it is the most important part of cycling gear, so if you’re going to spend money on anything it should always be a good quality helmet. Here is our favourite Cycling Helmet at the moment: The POC Octal Fondo Helmet. Whilst it does have a high price tag, the Octal helmet is award-winning. This helmet is at the forefront of cycling safety and gives the user comfort, ventilation and good head coverage. We love it because of the bright Lime Green and Blue colour options.

5. An Electric Bike!

Electric Bike

For some of us in the Direct2U office, riding a bike isn’t our first hobby (I know, strange since we work with cycle shelters and cycle compounds every day!). A few of us have taken part in the Cycle to Work scheme and do ride our bikes to work on occasions. However, sometimes it can just feel like too much effort – especially on cold mornings in the winter. We got thinking and we have a solution… and Electric Bike!! Whilst a tad expensive they are worth their weight in gold, a great invention. For those who are slower at cycling the days of being at the back of the pack, or feeling like your holding up traffic are long gone. You can enjoy the ride without having to work too hard or worry too much!

A word of warning – if the bike is for someone who is cycling to keep fit then this probably isn’t the best gift. Perhaps take a look at upgrading their road bike or mountain bike instead.

Evie the Elf has taken over the Direct2U Network and has been playing hide and seek around our websites. Can you help us find her?

Here is the latest riddle she has left us:

A Cornish Castle by the sea,
Find me & you’ll be jumping with glee!

We think you might find her around our Cycle Shelters.
