Cycle Tour of Britain Commences

Thousands of spectators gathered yesterday along the route of the cycle Tour of Britain which visits Usk, Monmouth and Abergavenny to the Blorenge Mountain to witness riders such as Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish ride. Wales hosted the third stage of the UK’s biggest professional cycle race which featured world class riders climbing the Tumble. London’s Cycle Superhighway Plans

Two new Cycle Superhighways were unveiled in London yesterday which includes an 18 mile continuous East to West cycle route nicknamed the “Crossrail for Bikes”. The new routes will run East – West from Tower Hill to Westbourne Terrace and then North – South from Kings Cross to Elephant and Castle. The new routes will be substantially segregated and road space will be reallocated to those on bikes including one whole lane of the Westway flyover. Thousands Attend Sky Ride Event

Leicester’s annual Sky Ride event was held this weekend with thousands of people turning up to take part. The event consisted of a 5 mile traffic free route through some of Leicester’s top attractions starting at Bede Park then on to King Power Stadium, Town Hall, Cathedral Gardens and the Cultural Quarter. Along side the cycling there was also attractions and free bike check ups. Cycle-Proofing Britain: 1 Year On

On 12th August 2013 Prime Minister David Cameron joined Sir Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton and Jody Cundy – British Olympic and Paralympic champions – to announce a new government ambition to kick start a “cycling revolution”. This revolution was created in the hope that cycling barriers will be removed for a new generation of cyclists.
