We need to be more responsible with our waste and sorting into streams will certainly help to cut the recyclable waste going to landfill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Current targets of recycling\u00a0waste from the UK households must be around 50% by 2020. Without a radical change, it is possible that the UK will meet these targets. Should there be more incentives to recycling in a throwaway and disposable culture?<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Why Should We Recycle?<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<li>Increased waste is going to landfill due to an increased population<\/li>\n<li>New technological products and packing are constantly\u00a0developing; consequently, these goods are not recyclable<\/li>\n<li>Lifestyle changes result in increased non-biodegradable waste<\/li>\n<li>Dangerous gasses and chemicals released from landfill sites are dangerous compared to recycling emissions<\/li>\n<li>Recycling reduces the need for landfill and raw materials reducing the effects of deforestation<\/li>\n<li>Making new products and technologies takes a lot of energy; therefore recycling reduces the need for as much energy<\/li>\n<li>With an increasing population, consequently we do not have the space for the increasing landfill sites<\/li>\n<li>Recycling will preserve natural resources for future generations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Types of Recyclable Material<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1142\" src=\"https:\/\/direct2u.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/how-long-to-decompose.jpg\" alt=\"Recycling Material\" width=\"248\" height=\"255\" \/><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Glass<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Commonly in the form of bottles and jars domestically; the process of recycling glass involves crushing and melting. Glass can be recycling infinitely as it does not lose any quality during processing. Manufacturing glass from scratch uses a lot rawer materials, more energy &amp; produces considerably more CO2 than recycling.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Paper<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Almost all types of waste paper are recyclable; however, this process cannot occur indefinitely. \u00a0Recycling usually occurs around 6 times.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Plastic<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Post-consumer plastic recycling in the UK is low, this is a result of lacking technologies. The main reasons being is that many different types of plastic exist which complicates the process.
