Five Faves: New Industrial Workbenches

Here at Workbenches Direct2U we have been super busy scouting out new industrial workbenches ranges to add to our website. This month we have had an adding spree and added all our favourite new industrial workbenches and would like to share how fantastic they are with you.

Here is a break down of our Top 5 Industrial Workbenches for May:

1. General Purpose – Square Tube Industrial Workbenches

You may recognise these workbenches as something we’ve had on the site for a while, but now they’re better than ever. Along with the existing options of MFC and Laminate there are TWO new worktop options; Linoleum and Solid Beech.

What makes the new options so special I hear you ask? Well, let us tell you…

Linoleum is a perfect material for easy cleaning and maintains its looks despite wear and tear – perfect for use in classrooms etc. Linoleum is resistant to diluted acids, oils and most conventional solvents such as white spirit and alcohol etc. However, linoleum is not recommended for use with alkalis

Beech not only looks modern and stylish but it is also extremely practical and hard wearing. Similar to oak, walnut and mahogany, Beech is a little more expensive and whole lot more desirable. Scratches can be sanded down and re-oiled making them look nicer for longer. The surface is relatively soft reducing scratching on components used for work. A Beech worktop improves the structural integrity of a workbench thanks to its solidity.

2. Cantilever Workbenches

Similar to the Square Tube workbenches – the Cantilever range has been on the site a while, with only a Laminate worktop option. However, we can’t let one of our best selling industrial workbenches down by not offering more options can we? Introducing the new Cantilever worktop options: Lino, MFC and Solid Beech:

Linoleum is a perfect material for easy cleaning and maintains appearance even with general wear and tear. They are perfect for use in classrooms, laboratories and workshops etc. Linoleum is resistant to diluted acids, oils and most conventional solvents such as white spirit and alcohol. Despite its resilience, linoleum is not recommended for use with alkalis.

Melamine Faced Chipboard is similar to standard chipboard with one small difference during manufacturing: melamine is a resin that is added into production of chipboard. Melamine offers a water resistant quality to the board. It also darkens the wood giving it a deeper colour finish. Melamine chipboard is fairly durable as it is warp and splinter proof. It is usually 18mm thick and boasts from being highly resistant to oils and moisture.

Solid Beech is a popular choice – it’s the jock of all worktops: aesthetically pleasing and strong. Beech is slightly pricier than alternatives but don’t be fooled, you get what you pay for. Scratches can be sanded down and re-oiled meaning the good looks of the worktop will last a long time. The worktop is relatively soft meaning it will not scratch any components during use and also enhances the structural strength of the workbench.

3. Heavy Duty – Sealey Premier Industrial Workbenches

Recognise the name Sealey? For those of you who do, you’ll know that Sealey is a leading brand in workbench manufacturing with over 34 years in the business. They are known for their quality products – particularly popular in the automotive industry. This new range of premier industrial workbenches has a high spec construction with quality materials.

This Premier Industrial workbenches range is manufactured from heavy gauge steel and has a max weight capacity of 1000kg. Each bench is fitted with adjustable feet for levelling and features a 40mm thick laminate worktop that is edged with a double thick rim. Also available is a whole range of Sealey workbench accessories to match the range including perforated back panel, vice plates and a whole host of under bench cabinets.

4. Cost Saver Height Adjustable Workbench

COST-SAVER Height Adjustable Workbench

Height Adjustable Workbenches tend to be a bit pricier than your average workbench for obvious reasons – you can adjust the height! There are many fancy, all singing all dancing height adjustable benches around with a price tag to match – this cost saver option doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but it is a fantastic budget version for any workshop needing a basic bench.

The workbench is adjustable via a removable hand crank and can be adjusted when positioned flush against a wall without causing knuckle injuries. Lowest height is 730mm and can be adjusted up to 950mm. This workbench has a decent 100kg evenly distributed load capacity. The 20mm thick laminate worktop makes this workshop bench ideal for all light duty and general purpose applications such as assembly, laboratory work and light engineering.

What are the benefits of a height adjustable workbench? Well, there are many reasons as to why having an adjustable workbench is beneficial:

Not everyone is the same height – if you have multi-user workbenches it would be difficult for someone who is 6ft to share the same working height as someone who is nearer 5ft
Not all jobs require the same working height – having an adjustable bench means user can sit or stand depending on what job they are doing. Getting the correct positioning for certain jobs is essential for precision and comfort
They are ergonomical – When working at a desk or bench for long periods of time it is essential to maintain user comfort. Working in one position all day is bad for backs, legs and general posture. If the user can alter height to suit their needs then this will save a lot of discomfort and therefore increase productivity.
