Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, who is responsible for waste management, as part of his position as the Environment and Transport Cabinet Member for Ealing Council, London, has been reported as referring to wheelie bins as a \u2018Marmite topic\u2019 \u2013 the public either love them or hate them!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Those in support of the wheelie bin argue that they:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>create a cleaner environment, preventing waste spillages on our streets<\/li>\n<li>reduce the number of vermin<\/li>\n<li>encourage recycling within the home<\/li>\n<li>have led to business entrepreneurship, introducing more wheelie bins onto the market, cleaning products and even wooden huts which store wheelie bins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">However, those against wheelie bins suggest that they:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>can be used for arson attacks<\/li>\n<li>obstruct public pavements<\/li>\n<li>are unsightly, and not practical if you have no front garden or area to keep them<\/li>\n<li>and have become \u2018spy\u2019 bins for some local councils such who have monitored how much rubbish was being disposed&nbsp; by residents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/direct2u.co.uk\/blog\/wheelie-bins\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/06\/wheelie-bins.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38 aligncenter\" title=\"wheelie bins\" alt=\"wheelie bins\" src=\"https:\/\/direct2u.co.uk\/blog\/wheelie-bins\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/06\/wheelie-bins.jpg\" width=\"148\" height=\"148\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Whether you consider them unsightly or not, it seems wheelie bins have proved to be very practical for waste collection. Wheelie bins and <a title=\"Wheelie Bins Direct2U\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wheelie-bins-direct2u.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recycling wheelie bins<\/a> have encouraged waste separation and more homes to recycle waste which would normally have gone to landfill.
