Accidents in many types of catering organisation are on the increase and common hazard include and are not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<li>Food Slicers<\/li>\n<li>Electrical faults<\/li>\n<li>Exposed Wires<\/li>\n<li>Trip hazards<\/li>\n<li>Oil fires<\/li>\n<li>No ventilation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Employers must adhere to several legislation to ensure the health and safety of their employees; as can be seen&nbsp;below.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Health and Safety at work Act 1974<br \/>\nPlaces a duty on all employers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The act requires; the safe operations and maintenance of the working environment, maintenance to the safe access of the workplace. The adequate provisions and training of all staff to ensure health, safety and welfare.&nbsp; Finally; the safe use, handling and storage of hazardous materials.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">2. Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999<br \/>\nPlaces a duty on employers to assess and manage the risks to employees and others from work activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">3. RIDDOR 1995<br \/>\nThe reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulation to the HSE.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">4. Workplace regulation 1992<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This regulation is in relation to the working environment, ensuring it is safe and suitable.
