Suppliers use a&nbsp;criteria set to an internationally agreed standard to identify hazards. There are criteria for:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 250px;\">\n<li>Physical Hazards<\/li>\n<li>Health Hazards<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Hazards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">When classifying a chemical; the supplier must consider:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 250px;\">\n<li>What harm it may cause<\/li>\n<li>Likelihood of chemical causing harm<\/li>\n<li>How serious the effect may be<\/li>\n<li>How potent the chemical is<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Chemical classification is fundamentally used to regulate the supply and use of chemicals.&nbsp;Additional chemical controls, protective measures or restrictions on sale may&nbsp;need stating.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">What is CoSHH?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The legislation that controls substances that are hazardous to health and reducing exposure by:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 250px;\">\n<li>Finding out the hazards<\/li>\n<li>Deciding how to prevent harm to health (risk assessment)<\/li>\n<li>Proving control measures<\/li>\n<li>Making sure the measures are used<\/li>\n<li>Keeping the control measures in good working order<\/li>\n<li>Providing information, instruction and training for employees<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring in appropriate cases<\/li>\n<li>Contingency Planning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Exposure to a chemical includes: inhalation, skin contact, injection into the skin and swallowing. In the workplace thousands of chemicals have daily uses.
