\n\tDid you know that as of March 2017 there will be a new \u00a31\ncoin in circulation?\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\n\tYou may be thinking how will this affect our lockers? Well,\nif you have lockers with standard key or hasp and staple locks it won\u2019t affect\nyou. However, if you purchased lockers before 1\n\tst<\/sup> July 2016 with\ncoin return or coin retain locks, they will soon become out of date and as of\nSeptember 2017 unusable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tIf you have purchased lockers after this date, then don\u2019t worry\nwe have made sure our lockers are \u2018future proof\u2019 from now on. The new coin\nlocks accept both the current \u00a31 coin and the new \u00a31 coin. So, if you do need\nto replace your coin locks they will only need to be changed once, and whilst\nthe coin is in transition your lockers will still be in perfect use. We\u2019ve made\nit really easy to replace your coin locks and have some cost effective options\navailable to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tWhy has the government decided to change the \u00a31 coin?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tThe \u00a31 coin is one of the oldest British coins still in\ncirculation. It was first issued in 1983 and since then it has changed very\nlittle, making it one of the easiest coins to counterfeit. Did you know that\none in 30 pound coins are actually fakes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tThis causes a significant cost to taxpayers, industries and\nto the general public. Therefore, the government announced back in 2014 that a\nnew \u00a31 coin would be released. The last \u00a31 coin as we currently know it was\nissued in December 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tThe new coin will be in use from Mach 2017, not too long\naway, and the government are acting quickly to get the current pound coin out\nof circulation. By September 2017 it will not be accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tWhat will the new pound coin look like?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tIt has a new design similar to that of the \u00a32 coin. It will\nbe 12 sided with rounded edged and corners and have a nickel brass outer circle\nwith a nickel plated solid alloy inner circle. The new design is meant to be\nvery difficult to replicate and will have numerous counterfeit preventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tWhat lock options are available?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tWe currently have two new coin lock options available from two\ndifferent manufacturers: Lowe & Fletcher and Assa Abloy. If you need to\nreplace your coin locks the first thing to do is check the manufacturer\u2019s name\non the back of your current locks. You will need to replace your locks with\nlike for like (e.g. the same lock manufacturer).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
