East Midlands trains are set to spend \u00a32.5 million installing cycle shelter \u2018hubs\u2019 at Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester stations, due to be open at the end of Summer.<\/h6>\n

The cycle hubs will offer storage facilities for bikes and have changing facilities, toilets, bike repair tools and cycling information for customers.<\/p>\n

For cyclists in Sheffield who want to get their bikes services, repaired or to hire a bike, Russell\u2019s Bicycle Shed will also be opening along with the cycle hub in May. Improvements will also be made to the access arrangements for cars, taxis and cyclists visiting the station. Work on the cycle shelter<\/a> is expected to last around 12 weeks.<\/p>\n

Route managed for East Midlands Trains, Jonny Wiseman says: \u201cThese fantastic new facilities will deliver great improvements for those choosing to come to our stations on their bikes. When the work is completed in the summer, we will have doubled our storage capacity to more than 2,500 spaces across the network.\"Cycle<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe improvements will not only benefit cyclists, as the scheme will also deliver improvements to the drop off and taxi areas. By introducing both a dedicated taxi area at the front of the station and a separate drop off zone for passengers it will be easier and safer for all to use.\u201d<\/p>\n
