The Rise Above Sportive will be held in aid of Help for Heroes and Right to Play. The event will have three routes including the 75km \u2018enthusiast\u2019 route, the 120km \u2018purist\u2019 route and the final route being named the \u2018extremist\u2019 route with a 185km route length. Each route will start in Chester before crossing the boarder in North Wales. Some of the sights along the way will include Clwydian Range, the long, round Llyn Brenig in Denbighshire and then back over the border.<\/p>\n

Mark Cavendish has won a Tour de France stage 25 times and he also competed in last years Tour of Britain. Cavendish has said to be very excited to launch the event which was dreamed up 18 months ago and has been in the planning process ever since. His aim for the event is to provide everyone involved with a real premium rider experience. Eventually, Cavendish visualises a fully road closed event so it was vital that the inaugural one featured closed road sections. He would also like the Rise Above Sportive to be a two day cycling festival in a few years time.<\/p>\n
Cheshire West and Chester councillor Stuart Parker has said that they are delighted to be hosting the Rise Above Sportive and the event aids their long standing involvement in cycling events and continue to build on the legacy of the 2012 Olympics.<\/p>\n
